More than 388,000 Minnesotans over 18 lack high school equivalency, and an estimated 200,000 adults are in need of English language services.
We offer morning, afternoon and evening basic literacy classes at six adult learning centers in Minneapolis and St. Paul. Classes run year-round and are led by staff or trained volunteers. Classes include English language, GED, civics, work-readiness and computer skills.
- 2,600 learners participated in more than 186,000 classroom hours last year.
- About 46 percent of adult learners made a level gain on standardized tests.
- GED preparation classes were added to a third center in January 2011.
