Want to get a sneak peek at the stories in Journeys 2020? Volunteer as a copyeditor with us this December!
The Minnesota Literacy Council has published Journeys: An Anthology of Adult Student Writing annually each spring for 30 years. This year we are looking for a group of copyeditors to help prepare our learners’ works for the 2020 publication. The copyeditor volunteer opportunity is a fun way to get a sneak peek at the content for this years' Journeys and to be a part of the publication team!
Each copyeditor will be given a selection of stories to edit over the course of three weeks. The vast majority of the editing can be done remotely. There will be an initial training which will orient you to the specific copyediting practices for Journeys, as well as other logistical details. This training is required, and will take place on Thursday, December 12, 2019 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. After the initial training, all editing can be completely remotely (with support from our staff if needed). All edits are expected to be received by Friday, January 3, 2020.
Volunteer applications must be submitted by Friday, December 6, 2019 to be considered. We will accept copy editors on a rolling basis prior to that deadline. Additional information regarding review criteria, style guide and the publication will be provided to all volunteers upon notification of selection. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact Kelly Rynda at 651-251-9074 or email@example.com.
