New Year’s Resolutions

In this lesson, students discuss how they celebrate New Year, and read about some typical celebrations in the UK, as well as looking at New Year’s resolutions and reflecting on what makes a year good or bad.


New Year’s Resolutions: A Reading and Conversation Lesson for Adults

Purpose: This small group activity gives learners opportunities to practice formulating questions and answering a wide variety of questions.

Preparation Time: None

Materials Needed: None

Materials Needed:  A short passage with several errors, or sentences or a worksheet with errors

Example 1:

  1. What was Ahmed’s job?

Example 2:

Purpose:  This popular party game helps learners build familiarity with prepositions of place while having lots of laughs

Materials Needed:  pencils or markers, paper plates (preferably the ones without a coating), a list of instructions
