We are now accepting applications for the 2019-2020 service year of Literacy Leadership Program!

Literacy Leadership Program - (MLC) (statewide, multiple positions) Pave the way for stronger literacy programs in your community! Become a Literacy Leader to tackle educational barriers for low-income, immigrant, or refugee children, youth, adults or families. (General listing to the Literacy Leadership program. We will refer you to specific positions.)

Minnesota Literacy Council - VISTA Leader (St. Paul) (1 position filled, 1 position available)
Do you have a year or more of full-time experience as a national service member (full-time (1700 hours) AmeriCorps State & National, NCCC, VISTA or Peace Corps)? Build leadership skills by providing training, support, and resources to a statewide corps of 20 year-long Literacy Leaders and 72 summer VISTAs. Start dates flexible if you have successfully completed a full year as a VISTA within the last 4 years prior to start date. Start date of November 12 for all others. Apply here

D.I.V.I.N.E. Institute - Capacity Building 2.0 (St. Paul) Help us change the narrative of “at-risk” to “at-promise." Our Literacy Leader will help implement and improve outreach, training, fundraising and new programs that will bring positive changes to the lives of deserving young people in our communities. Northfield Community College Collaborative - Program Development (Northfield) The Northfield Community College Collaborative provides post-secondary opportunities with guided support to students pursuing their Associate of Arts degree. Work with us to create a robust tutoring program, form partnerships with local employers, and build capacity to help promote literacy and move our students out of poverty. Apply here

Brooklyn Bridge Alliance for Youth - Youth Engagement (Brooklyn Center) Youth engagement is a high quality process that involves youth voices in the decisions and systems that impact their lives. Our Literacy Leader will connect with our partners on projects that will increase youth engagement and accelerate youth success!

Eden Prairie Schools Community Education - Family Literacy (Eden Prairie) Build a Family Literacy Program to serve immigrant families—both parents and young children—in the Eden Prairie community. The Literacy Leader will facilitate collaboration among key partners and guide the continued development and refinement of the program.

English Learning Center - Program Development (Minneapolis) Gain leadership experience while improving opportunities and education for adults learning English. Help learners who’ve come to the US as immigrants and refugees track progress and meet their goals. 

Experience Corps Twin Cities - After School Initiative (Minneapolis) Help us expand on an intergenerational after school initiative. Your service will support young readers & older adult volunteers seeking meaningful engagement through literacy and mentorship.

Greenvale Park Community School - Early Learners (Northfield) The Greenvale Park Community School mobilizes community resources and partnerships to offer free, out-of-school-time programming for students and families to boost academic success and build a sense of community connectedness. The Community School Literacy Leader serves to nurture and develop new partnerships, increase early learning and family engagement opportunities, and recruit volunteers to ensure quality programming. 

Hopewell Music - Webber Camden Youth Center (Minneapolis) Music! Technology! Snacks! Hopewell Music is developing a teen center and we need you. Come help young people in North Minneapolis develop literacy and life skills in a fun, safe space. 

International Institute of Minnesota - Curriculum and Outreach (St. Paul) The English for Work department at the International Institute of Minnesota (IIM) provides free, high quality English language education to non-native English adult speakers. The Literacy Leader at IIM will develop curriculum to meet student needs, connect with community members to increase funding and recruit and train volunteers to best meet student needs. 

Milestones - Family Engagement (Waite Park) The Family Engagement Project is working to support school readiness by bringing literacy and social/emotional activities to families. The Literacy Leader will research and develop this program with many partners in the greater St. Cloud area and gather data and feedback on the project to guide continuous quality improvement.

Minnesota Literacy Council - Access VISTA (St. Paul) Join the Minnesota Literacy Council’s dynamic adult literacy outreach and training team! Develop initiatives in universal design and accessibility to support inclusion of learners and volunteers with disabilities at Adult Basic Education (ABE) sites across Minnesota.

Neighborhood House - Youth Literacy (St. Paul) Be a part of a helping tradition that spans 3 centuries. Assist the next generation of leaders by improving the opportunities of under-served youth. You can be a key to unlocking their potential.

Open Door Learning Center - Arlington Hills - Student and Volunteer Outreach (St. Paul) Make an impact on literacy for our newest neighbors in Minnesota. Pilot strategies for recruiting adult students and create pathways for learners to access leadership roles! 

Open Door Learning Center - Lake Street - Navigation (Minneapolis) Volunteer Navigators need your support to guide adult-learner journeys. Help get student dreams on the map!

Partner for Student Success - SURPASS Project (St. Cloud) You can ignite the power that literacy can have for youth who are new to the country. Work with local schools and out of school time programs to align literacy curricula and strengthen our collective impact.

Promise Neighborhood of Central Minnesota - Reading Club (St. Cloud) Promise Neighborhood provides literacy support for youth in SE Saint Cloud. Our Literacy leader will work with stakeholders to enhance content, create goals, develop partnerships and increase access to resources!

Roseville Area Schools Community Education - Curriculum Alignment (Roseville) Join the Roseville Area Schools Community Education Out of School Time team to work for youth. This position will include creating, developing, and evaluating environments and lesson plans to align school day learning to out of school time programming. 

University of Minnesota - MN Youth Story Squad (Minneapolis) Minnesota Youth Story Squad addresses educational opportunity gaps and amplifies voices through storytelling to engage school-aged youth in the Twin Cities. Our Literacy Leader will work with us to build capacity as we expand our programming to Minneapolis public high schools in North and Northeast Minneapolis. 

Urban Strategies - Heritage Park Literacy (Minneapolis) The Heritage Park Literacy Leader will design and launch new literacy activities, increase volunteer opportunities, and develop an evaluation for our college prep literacy mentoring program and after-school homework help program.
